Take care of your skin this monsoon

The onset of the pleasing monsoon brings along certain skin woes. That doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy the beautiful weather. You just need to be a little more careful about your skincare, use the right products for your beautiful skin and you are all set to have healthy, glowing skin. 🙂

Here are some useful monsoon skincare tips for you to take care of the most beautiful part of your body.

  • Hydration is the key

It is extremely important to hydrate your body in the monsoons. Drink a lot of water, fresh juices to keep the body hydrated which eventually keeps the skin healthy and glowing.

  • Proper cleansing

It is very important to keep the skin well cleansed as a part of your monsoon skincare regime. In fact, you should wash your face 3-4 times in the monsoons to keep it clean and dirt free. Do not use harsh soaps or face wash. Opt for gentle, soap free cleansers. They do not rub off the essential moisture from your skin and do not make it dry and irritated.

Here are a few products I like to use in this season to keep my combination skin healthy and glowing. My all time favourite being the one from Cetaphil.

Clockwise: Cetaphil daily facial cleanser, Forest Essentials delicate facial cleanser(Kashmiri saffron & neem), Himalaya moisturizing aloe vera face wash, Vichy deep cleansing purifying gel, Neutrogena extra gentle cleanser.

  • Scrub it off

The monsoon calls for a lot of dirt and bacteria to settle on your skin badly which can result in skin issues like acne, blackheads, allergies, etc. Hence, it is necessary to scrub your skin at least twice a week in the monsoon. Scrubbing will help clean the skin and get rid of the extra dirt and bacteria. However, remember to use gentle scrubs. Fruit based scrubs are the best I feel.

Here are some great products I recommend. The one from The Body Shop is my favourite.

Clockwise: Himalaya gentle exfoliating apricot scrub, The Body Shop tea tree squeaky clean scrubForest Essentials facial scrub (hand pounded organic friut), Saint Pure strawberries & cream spa facial crème scrubKiehl’s pineapple papaya face scrub.

  • Moisturise well

The skin tends to lose a lot of moisture in the monsoons which is definitely not good. So always remember to keep the skin well moisturized to keep it soft and healthy. If you want you can carry a moisturizer in your bag so that your skin doesn’t have to suffer even if you happen to get drenched and hence wash away the moisturizer. Opt for water based moisturisers.

Here’s some cool moisturisers for this season. I like the one from Neutrogena and Cetaphil.

Clockwise: Forest Essentials light day lotion (Indian rose & marigold)Neutrogena oil-free moisturiserCetaphil moisturising lotion, The Body Shop Vitamin E aqua boost sorbet, Clinique moisture surge intense.

  • Get the right toner

We all know the importance of using a toner to keep the skin healthy and clean. Remember to use alcohol free toners as they are less harmful and their effect is longer without causing any damage to the skin.

Try some of these toners I love.

Clockwise: Oriflame Love Nature face toner (tea tree), Clarins toning lotion with Iris, Neutrogena alcohol-free tonerThe Body Shop pomegranate facial toner, FabIndia tea tree skin toner.

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen

This is an extremely important step to follow in the monsoons. Even though you don’t see the sunrays, don’t skip the sunscreen. The UV rays are very much present in the monsoons too and not using a sunscreen is only going to damage your skin eventually. So yes, do not even try to skip your sunscreen. Use a waterproof sunscreen in the monsoons.

I am currently loving the Sun zone lotion from Oriflame. Its not at all oily, super light and provides good amount of sun protection.

Clockwise: Oriflame sun zone lotion face and body SPF 15, Avene very high protection spray SPF 50+, LA Roche-PosayAnthelios XL dry touch gel cream SPF 50+, Neutrogena ultra sheer dry touch sunscreen, Vichy invisible hydrating mist spray sun care.

  • Less is more in monsoons

For all of you who like to use makeup in the monsoons too, avoid heavy makeup. Keep your makeup simple and minimal. The all natural and nude look is the best for this season. Also, use mineral makeup and waterproof makeup so that it doesn’t get messy in the rains. Again, remember to moisturize the skin well before applying the makeup.

Here are some great products to give you that perfect minimalist look. I am currently loving the Giordani Gold Jewel Lipstick from Oriflame (Shade – Dusky Nude). It gives a perfect, effortlessly natural look and the colour is super rich and creamy that looks great and stays for a longer time.
